Independent Cinema for Everyone

Thanks to funding from National Archives UK's Platinum Jubilee Fund, The Box has compiled a package of archive film and images in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee. The Coronation reawakened a tremendous sense of post-war community and optimism. As people united in national celebration, there is a shared warmth and excitement radiates through the many films and photographs that were captured at the time. Over 100 films of these celebrations were captured in every corner of the UK – the legacy of a truly remarkable day! The package also includes archive footage of the 1977's Silver Jubilee celebrations in the South West, and the Queen's visit to Plymouth in 1988.
